Has it reset to PIO Only transfer mode? We may be looking at a failing device.

Do you have two hard drives connected to the Primary channel? If you do, the slave drive may be the culprit.

Well...it turns out that my ISP (Ricochet) has decided to pull out of the Denver area. Before they left however, they made a deal with Comcast to give us a year of hi-speed at $29/mo. for one year.

I hooked up my modem just now, and there ia no longer any "slow" problem. Turns out that there were many, many calls about slow puters as they eliminated their service over the past week.

Thanks so much for your help here. You folk are the best.

One question I do have now is that with the install came free McAffe security center. In an effort to clean up my puter, which of the following items do I no longer need and should eliminate from my drive.

Avast,... Ad-Aware SE Personal,... Spybot,... Cleanup,... Norton Security Scan,... Windows Defender

Thanks once more!!!!!! :) :) :)
