I guess my next question is, is there any way to remove the "old installation" while in ms dos mode. my windows is still down because of the missing win.com file. which i havent been able to rename( i can extarct it but get errors trying to rename.)

i know you guys are probably tired of me by now. I just thought the re installation of windows would be the easiest at this point.

guess i'm wrong again. Any ideas where to go from here?(now that a loaded question huh.)

To do that you will need to format the drive you wish to install on. Note that you will lose all data. That's what's known as a clean install. Alternatively you may want to buy a new hard drive and install your operating system on that and make the current drive your talking about a slave drive, if you want to salvage anything :tazz:
