Well, since the 12th of April, AVG has been giving me all these sudden virus alerts that seem to be in the system32 folder and most have an extension of .dll
AVG had told me that it had healed them although backup files and Vundo were put in the virus vault.


I have no idea where these viruses/trojans are coming from...
Then..
Google on Firefox wouldn't display any search results. The site itself works yet when you type something in the search bar, nothing would happen.
This is also the problem for other search engines like Yahoo!.
Some other sites, like Youtube's homepage work but when a search term is typed, no search results appear.
I then resorted to IE and it worked fine...
until just then.
I did a search with Spybot S&D and within one of the results, Virtumonde was found but Spybot claimed to have gotten rid of it.

Oh, and yes I have tried re-installing Firefox.

Go to http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

Download VundoFix at http://www.atribune..../click.php?id=4 and save it to your desktop.
- Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
- Click the Scan for Vundo button.
- Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
- You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files. Click Yes.
- Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
- When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer. Click OK.
- Post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt here.

NOTE: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot. Simply follow the above instructions starting from Click the Scan for Vundo button when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Well, I tried the VundoFix scan...and followed your instructions...
So I just clicked on Fix Checked...which was a lot of files...
And when I was prompted to reboot my computer, I faced this message:

Please re-install a copy of the above file.

It seemed to me that most of the infected files were in system32.

I couldn't turn on my computer anymore!
Safe Mode wont work and System Restore wont either!
It just wont let me in!

They're not much help because I don't have the XP CD with me.
I managed to get another copy of hal.dll on USB
but is there anyway I can copy it onto my computer?
It won't even log on or get to the loading page.
I've tried booting it from the USB but it would not open
Any ideas?

I hope you installed the Recovery Console that I specified to do in my first reply to you (see post #2). You should be able to boot into that console when you startup the computer and see if you can copy it from the USB drive.
