I recently installed Windows Vista Ultimate as a dualboot to my XP Pro. My LAN card is a D-Link DFE-528TX and is Vista compatible. It is installed in the PCI bus of my Asus P5V800 MX motherboard. When I use XP, i don't have any problems with internet connection. XP detects the D-Link LAN card and automatically configures the connection.
The problem occurs when I switch to Vista. The device manager does not detect the D-Link but shows the Rhine II Fast Ethernet LAN Card instead (which is the on-board LAN adaptor). A few months back, lightning struck outside my room and damaged my modem, power-supply and on-board LAN adaptor. I had to replace all three parts which is why I bought the D-Link.
I really don't know why Vista cannot detect the D-link. I have no other options but to use this adaptor for my internet. Also, how come the device manager is saying that the On-board LAN adaptor is working when it really isn't? I have installed all the Vista drivers but no luck. No internet connection when i use vista which really sucks!
How can i fix this problem? Please help.
