Hi,

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Sidenote, did you purchase SpyHunter? If not, then I suggest you uninstall it.
Same goes for Spysweeper in case you didn't purchase it.

I did purchase Spyware but will delete it if you think best. I did not purchase SpyHunter but did download it in my earlier attempts to fix this problem. I will delete it after I send this message to you

There were two items Malwarebytes said it could not remove. I tried to print the message but could not in safemode which is what I am in when I ran it. I think being in safemode is the best thing to do. Is that right?

Here is also my NEW Hijackthis file:

Hi,

I need a HijackThislog from Windows Normal mode, because MalwareBytes still has to delete some files after reboot, so this won't work if you reboot back into Safe mode.

So please reboot once again and make sure you reboot this time to Windows normal mode. Then post a new HijackThislog in your next reply.

Hi,

* Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Hi,

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\stjinfqx.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kxgveanv.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mwdmbrro.ini
Folder::
C:\SDFix
C:\VundoFix Backups
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\gnghwrih

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Posted Image

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi Paul,

This looks OK again.

* Go to start > run and copy and paste next command in the field:

ComboFix /u

Make sure there's a space between Combofix and /
Then hit enter.

This will uninstall Combofix, delete its related folders and files, reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Then,
Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.
Updating Java:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • For Platform, select "Windows"
  • For language, select your language
  • Read the License agreement and then Check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement".
  • Click Continue
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 6
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.
Let me know in your next reply how things are now.

Dear Miekiemoes
My system is running great! And I did everything you suggested in your previous post! Wow! I cant tell you how nuts I was at the beginning of this and how stupid I felt that I let it happen. I am glad I ran into this site AND you! You are both a gentlemen and a scholar for taking time out to help me as patiently as you have! I cant thank you enough!

I would really like to do something nice for you and send you a gift or payment for you time! I could have never have done this without you. If you feel comfortable in providing me with any address or PO Box, I would love just to send you something as my way of saying thanks! I will leave it up to you but I just want you to know how grateful I am.

I do have one quick question if you have the time to answer. I know you made a comment about "SpySweeper" which I do have on my system. I also use a program called "Registry Mechanic." In your opinion do you think that they are worthwhile to continue to use?

If not, would it be proper to use "Malwarebyte" from time to time to clean out any spyware and the like? I ask only because I know spyware accumulates after a while and I guess I am asking if SpySweeper is not the right product, how do you keep your system clean of just general spyware type problems that come about on your system?

Well everything is running great again, and I hope you have a few minutes to reply if you can.

Thanks again for all you did! I am a firm believer that good things happen to good people and you scored more than a few points during this whole thing! :)))))

Thanks again,
Paul

Hi Paul,

Thank you for your kind words. The payment or gift is really not needed though - your kind words and a thank you already means a lot to me. I'm always glad that I could help someone :)

You are both a gentlemen and a scholar for taking time out to help me as patiently as you have! I cant thank you enough!

Actually I'm a lady, but you could not know that :)

I do have one quick question if you have the time to answer. I know you made a comment about "SpySweeper" which I do have on my system. I also use a program called "Registry Mechanic." In your opinion do you think that they are worthwhile to continue to use?

The comment I made about Spysweeper is - I know this scanner is not for free, so people should purchase it in order to stay up to date with latest definitions. Many people install trials and when the trials expire, instead of purchasing it, they just keep it running in the background, using extra resources, while it actually won't protect you anyway since only purchased versions can be updated. So if databases are outdated, they won't protect you against newest threats. So if a trial expires and you're not planning to purchase it, there's really no need to keep it, using extra space and resources (since it's running in the background here).
As for Registry Mechanic - I actually do not recommend such system tweaking /registry cleaning tools. Read here why:
http://miekiemoes.bl...weaking_13.html
So be careful with it if you want to proceed to use it.

If not, would it be proper to use "Malwarebyte" from time to time to clean out any spyware and the like? I ask only because I know spyware accumulates after a while and I guess I am asking if SpySweeper is not the right product, how do you keep your system clean of just general spyware type problems that come about on your system?

Yes, Malwarebytes Antimalware is a great scanner to perform an on demand scan with it once in a while. Just make sure you always update it before you scan with it.

Please read my Prevention page with lots of info and tips how to prevent this in the future.
And if you want to improve speed/system performance after malware removal, take a look here.
Extra note: Make sure your programs are up to date - because older versions may contain Security Leaks. To find out what programs need to be updated, please run the Secunia Software Inspector Scan.

Happy Surfing again! :)
