Help with Outlook Express

I need someone to help me with Outlook Express. I cannot create mail or open my address book. I get error messages such as "There was an error opening this message. An error has occurred" or "Unable to open address book. The address book may not be installed properly." My personal e-mail is the only one affected. If you have any suggestions they would be greatly appreciated but please be specific as we are not too computer savvy (operating system is XP). Thank you!!!!
