I'm not sure if the program is asking for a card or a program driver. Is there anybody that can tell me what to look for? If it is a card, where is it normally located? If it is a driver, what does it go to?
HELP, PLEASE!!

Thanks,

It is a card....in the old days, videocards were 2d, but then came the advent of faster cards with "3d acceleration"

hence, 32 accelerator.

to determine your card's capability
start > run
dxdiag

go to the display tab

Thanks!!
Would you happen to know why a sound card would stop working?
It appears that it has no sound card, but it does.

It has the following (marked with ?) that I have not noticed before:

[-] ? Other devices
?! Gameport
?! Unknown Device

The question marks are yellow. Next to the question marks, the 2 devices have an exclaimation mark inside a yellow circle.

[-] Sound, video and game controllers
CMI8738/C3DX PCI Audio Device
! Unknown Device

The unknown device has an exclaimation mark inside a yellow circle.

These are the only exclaimation marks in the Device Manager.

Tried, did not work. Device Status says it is working properly but it is not. Also, now my puter is slower. It comes up as low memory. It has only windows running in the background and antivirus program. It will not even defrag. now I'm really lost as to what to do.

this is what I want you to try....

Download the audio drivers from the above link....then in device manager, delete everything with a yellow ! by right clicking and choosing uninstall.

Then, install the driver you just downloaded, and reboot.

Work?

The sound card is a PCI that was installed later as the puter came without a sound card for some reason.
CMedia CMI8738SX PCI Sound Card
I tried reloading driver that came with the sound card but it said that it was already there.
I bought and installed the sound card 2-9-2003 it was working fine until the beginning of last week and according to device status in properties it is working properly.
