Hello all, I usually scan my computer with HiJack This! every week to see if there are any system changes and I have 4 strange missing files from O23 - Service (take a look at the log)

I performed online scans using F-secure, Bitdefender, Panda, Microsoft one care, and Trend Micro and get nothing (are they remnants of the online scans .exe files?)

I've also use counterspy v2, zone alarm internet security, AVG antispyware, superantispyware, F-secure black light, and AVG antirootkit

Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

Download ATF Cleaner at http://www.atribune..../click.php?id=1
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program. Under Main choose Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

If you use the Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

If you use the Opera browser click 'Opera' at the top and choose 'Select All'
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.

Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc Tools->Delete an NT service and type in GJICS and hit OK.

If any of them give you problems deleted, go to Start->Run and type in services.msc and hit OK. Then look for GJICS and double click on it. Click on the Stop button. Repeat the same steps for:

JFTV
JYXDWEMNUATHB
UDJXFUIWA

See if that gets rid of those entries.

I have something similar to ATF cleaner, I use Webroot Window Washer and did the Cleaning.

I am unable to remove those 4 programs using HiJack This! (I've tried 2x with reboot).

So I go to Control Panel --> Administrative Functions and then select System Startup.

I find the 4 files and change them to Deactive (and click apply for all 4).

After rebooting and running HiJack This! again, these 4 are no longer listed in the log because I believe they are deactivated from start-up.

I have them gone to Control Panel --> Administrative Functions --> Event viewer

And found that the 4 programs tried loading on 04/13/2008 but were unable to because "service was an interactive service and the system was not set up to allow interactive services and therefore may not work properly"

Were they most likely trojan programs or keyloggers (or both)?

And if so, how come none of the online scans (kaspersky, panda, bitdefender, trendmicro) or programs (spysweeper, counterspy v2, superantispyware, avg antispyware) didnt detect anything?

Thanks very much for your help.

Turn them, back on. We'll use another tool to see if it can remove them. Even they you deactivated them, I think it's best to remove the problem rather than block it out :)

There's no single program/scanner that can pick everything up, especially if it's just randomly popping up (like in this case). They probably missed it also because the files don't exist anymore...just the service itself.

Go to http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix and follow the instructions on how to install the Recovery Console and run ComboFix. Go through all the steps until posting the log part. Post the combofix log here.

Thank you for your help GreyKnight, I discovered what the problem was!

Apparently, I used RootKitRevealer 4 times that weekend (because the program crashed a few times since I was trying to use the machine while it went on with it's business)

And a moderator of another forum posted that RKR makes those random services when you use it each time.

Wonderful!

Thanks again for your time. I appreciate it tremendously.
