I may have some useful advice.
We can easily check to see if you need your network driver by going into your Network Connections.
How to get to Network Connections:
Click Start -> Control Panel (classic view) -> Click "Network Connections".
Once you're in Network Connections, do you see a local area, a wireless connection?
Please list all your connections you see in a post here. If you see none, that will mean you're missing the driver.
I was looking at IBM's site, what is your Operating System? (XP,vista..)
After looking at IBM's site, I think if you try the link that peterm suggested it will work if that doesn't work you can try this:
Intel Ethernet driver only (no applications) - NetVista / ThinkCentre:

You asked how to uninstall it, you would (in device manager) right click on the driver you want to uninstall and click Uninstall. Be cautious about doing this.
I do have an idea so we can get to the bottom of the mystery of "what driver do you have" this will tell us what drivers your missing and what needs t be updated. We will not worry bout updating only worry about the Ethernet Controller.
Follow these Instructions:
1.Go to this website http://driveragent.com
2.Click "Click here to update drivers"
3.Install the plug in or active x it requests, and wait for it to scan for the drivers.
4.Once you see the list please find the Ethernet Controller please try and post back any useful info this tool may give you. The Controller will probably be under "Network adapters" in the list of drivers.

This is one you installed in your system manfully.
And you say you've already installed the software, what that the software that came with it you installed?
