FAKE WINDOWS SECURITY CENTER [CLOSED]

i cannot figure this one out. i am very savvy with computers, but this one has me stumped.

when the desktop appears there is something quite similar to a windows security center. the normal windows security center has three items, firewall, windows updates and antivirus. this one has systemerrorfixer, systemdefender and syscleaner. underneath these items are buttons that allow you to install them. at any rate, i cannot see where this is being hooked into the system. it appears to be hooked directly into explorer.exe.

someone please help.

Welcome to GTG.

Please print the below instructions or copy them to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the order mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - _{4D25F926-B9FE-4682-BF72-8AB8210D6D75} - (no file)
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://kl.bar.need2f...earch.html?p=KL
O20 - Winlogon Notify: gtimrpxi - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\gtimrpxi.dll
O23 - Service: Microsoft DDE+ server (78587f12) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system32\.78587f12\78587f12.exe (file missing)

Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

sc stop 78587f12
sc delete 78587f12
del delete.bat

Save the file as "delete.bat". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Double click on it.

Locate the following Files/Folders and delete them if they exist (if no location given, just do a search for them):

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\gtimrpxi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\.78587f12\

1. Download combofix at http://www.techsuppo...Bs/ComboFix.exe or http://download.blee...Bs/ComboFix.exe
2. Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.
