At the moment when I try opening a program through desktop icons it won't open. Applications such as windows live messenger open as it is in my system tray in the bottom right hand corner. All the system tray icons open, but the desktop icons do not.

I was surfing the net on Firefox and it just closed all of a sudden. I tried to open it again and then tried opening IE, but neither would work.

I then rebooted the pc and tried again, but they still wouldn't open.

I was not sure whether to post this topic in the Windows operating system forum or this one. I thought maybe it could be a malware problem?

Anyway I can't even open hijackthis so can't post a log at the moment.

I am using a laptop to post this as I can't open the web browsers on the pc.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
