Logitech New Touch keyboard includes touchpad, 2 cables--one for touchpad and other for keyboard. Virus? begins randomly moving cursor, opening desktop programs, tries to delete items, shifts cursor when trying to click on an icon or menu, etc, etc. Reinstalled WinXP from CD, and with some 39 min left, began jumping cursor! Restart does not help. Took to shop, scan with Symantec AV reports no infection. Same with my NOD32; their tech was mystified. Finally, I tried disconnecting the green connector cable from computer--and VOILA--all weird events stopped...reconnect, it happens all over again...or. However, 'h' key does not work while backspace key will not delete text; to delete, must highlight and press delete key. Device Manager reports keyboard and everything else is working properly. Now reconnect 2nd touchpad cable, and all apparently works well.

What controls the keyboard in Windows? Is there a file or driver somewhere that could be infected? How can I replace it? Is this behavior characteristic of any known virus, worm, trojan, etc?

I'm using latest version Safari for Windows browser. Thanks for help.

Did you try using another set of keyboard/mice and see if the same problem occurs?

1. Download combofix at http://www.techsuppo...Bs/ComboFix.exe or http://download.blee...Bs/ComboFix.exe
2. Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Downloaded ComboFix from Bleeping, began installing it, gave numerous permissions in ProcessGuard and Online Armor...suddenly Super AntiSpyware pops up an alert re Trojan-PWS.Banco...so I dc'd connection reversed all permissions...ran NOD32 which found nothing...SuperAntispyware found and fixed 3 infections...then Spyware Doctor found and removed Trojan PWS.Banco, Application.NirCmd, andBackdoor.VD.AYS. I'm posting another HJT file for now. What next?

Download combofix again. Disconnect from the internet and disable ALL your security programs before running combofix since it seems like they are blocking it access.

Have you tried using another keyboard yet to see if you can produce the same problem? It might not be malware/virus related....

No, have not personally tried another keyboard. See Comboscan file above.

Please do not use Comboscan. That's a separate tool. Go to the link that I specifically posted above for Combofix. Run Combofix and post that log here.

Is this a new keyboard you just installed recently? If the keyboard comes with it's own set of drivers/software, try uninstalling and reinstalling it back.

I mistyped. Combofix caused horrible problems when I tried to install it (see above)...so I found DSS by same author. Please see my post #5 above. I've emailed Logitech customer support with details of problem. It's the original keyboard, has not been reinstalled recently.

OK, let us know what Logitech says. If it's a virus/malware, it might be hiding itself....hopefully it's just a software issue for the keyboard.
