Hello. Actually, there are a few strange things happening. Just today, I started to have this problem where my computer plays some sort of audio advertisment on its on. Nothing will be open. Nothing will be running. I won't have any sort of internet browser open. Nothing. My computer is fairly new. It's a Dell and it was bought about 4-5 months ago. Spyware and infections havn't been a problem either. I scanned my computer for ads and spyware and nothing's there. So there's something that it's not spotting. I know that it's not a radio broadcast being picked-up on my computer or any other program.

I was looking for a song for my mother and I wasn't able to find it online anywhere. So I thought, 'I guess I'll just download Limewire for a few minutes just to find this song. I found it but it turns out to be a fake and it's some sort of spyware. I downloaded it and then deleted it from my computer. Plus, I ran my adware and spyware detectors and eliminated all threats and deleted limewire.. But the sounds still come up randomly. Plus, windows is now all of a sudden a tad-bit less effeciently, or slower, I should say. AND a small random window (about 4x4 inches) appears for like 1/4 of a second in the top left of the computer screen and then disappears. And the annoying clicking loading sound WON'T stop. It's the exact same sound you hear when you press "BACK" on IE. I don't know what any of this is. I've never had any problems with spyware until now. But I'm suspecting it to be a virus. Help would be very appreciated. Thank you.

Hi thefrustrated,

You appear to have the potential for some conflicting with you security applications:
You have AntiVir, a very capable free anti-virus, as well as what appears to be a remnant installation of Symantec/Nortons.
If you are keeping the Symantec for the firewall or anti-spyware factor, my advice would be to ditch it all and use some of the more capable free applications:

Please print these instructions, and have the hard copy handy, to complete the steps below.

You will need a new firewall, please download 1 of the following, but do not install yet.
You should check out:- Comodo Firewall Pro or Sunbelt Personal Firewall

User manuals are available for both:
Comodo's manual is built in and accessable from the Help Menu.

Sunbelt Manual Here

To get rid of the Symantec bits:
Please also download the following & save to your Desktop:
Norton Removal Tool

Remove Nortons:
Double click the Norton_Removal_Tool.exe & follow the instructions.
The Norton Removal Tool uninstalls all Norton 2008/2007/2006/2005/2004/2003 products and Norton 360 from your computer.
Your computer may be restarted more than once, and you may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer restarts.

Now install the new firewall you downloaded earlier.

Please download the following & save to your Desktop:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

The text from these files may exceed the maximum post length for this forum, and may need to be sent over 2 or more posts. Please ensure all text is posted.

Cheers,
