Uninstall Ad-aware and install the latest version here:

http://www.lavasoftu..._aware_free.php

1. Download combofix at http://www.techsuppo...Bs/ComboFix.exe or http://download.blee...Bs/ComboFix.exe
2. Double-click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply.

Note:
Do not click on combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Once that's done, please post your HijackThis log here...I see you tried to do so in another topic (keep it in one topic :)).

Uninstall MyWay and Viewpoint via the Add/Remove Programs panel.

Go to Start->Run and type in regedit and hit OK. Go to File->Export and save the registry somewhere as a backup. Close the Registry Editor now. Go to Start->Run and type in notepad and hit OK. Then copy and paste the following into Notepad:

REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"MyWebSearch Email Plugin"=-
"pphelpa"=-
"Adstartup"=-

Save the file as "delete.reg". Make sure to save it with the quotes. Close Notepad. Double click on the delete.reg file and choose Yes to merge/add it to the registry. You may delete the file afterwards.

Delete these:

C:\PROGRA~1\MyWay\
C:\Documents and Settings\Debi\Application Data\tvmcwrd.dll

If you have any problems using any of your programs, you might have to reinstall it. I see some programs that might be corrupted.

What problems are you having?

I will do all of this tonight. Thanks!

The problems I'm having are my computer starts to get very slow and hangs up. I know I have an old machine though.

I noticed after I did what you told me to do yesterday, I no longer have IE toolbar. How do I get that back?
Is IE the best choice? My kids use Fieefox on their laptops. Which is best?
Thanks. Have a nice day.

Hi Debi, is it missing the IE toolbar or the MyWebSearch Toolbar? If IE toolbar, right click on the menu bar and you should get options to enable it back. If you are referring to the MyWebSearch Toolbar, I usually ask users to remove it since it comes bundled in software that the computer user usually don't know about.

Personally, I'm a Firefox user. There is no best choice, but I recommend using Firefox over IE. Security wise, it's probably better than IE.

OK. I did the uninstalll MyWay and Viewpoint, however they were not listed in Add/Remove Programs so I did it in Win Explorer.
How can you tell if programs are corrupted?
I just want to make sure my computer doesn't have any viruses or trojans lurking.
Thank you for your help.

Hi Debi, we can try disabling some startup programs to see if it helps improve the speed on this a little (even if it's an old computer :)):

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following if they still exist and hit 'Fix Checked' after you checked the last one:

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [swg] C:\Program Files\Google\GoogleToolbarNotifier\GoogleToolbarNotifier.exe
O4 - Global Startup: hp psc 2000 Series.lnk = C:\Program Files\Hewlett-Packard\Digital Imaging\bin\hpobnz08.exe
O4 - Global Startup: MagicTune3.6.lnk = ?
O4 - Global Startup: Microsoft Office.lnk = C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office10\OSA.EXE
O4 - Global Startup: NaturalColorLoad.lnk = ?

Uninstall the version of Ad-aware you have there. Install the latest version here. You don't need to get the paid version if you don't want to. One of the feature the paid version has is Ad-Watch which I see you have running. I suggest not getting it since you have a "old" computer and there are other free alternatives that has similar functions...no need to pay :)

Is McAfee a must? If not, uninstall McAfee since I'm pretty sure it's using a lot of resources. Download AVG Antivirus and enable your Windows Firewall (Start->Settings->Control Panel->Firewall...enable it there).

I saw in the log that you might have some corrupted programs. One is called DIGStream and the other is IObit SmartDefrag. See if you have problems using them. If so, just reinstall them. Otherwise you are good to go if there are no more issues :)
