Is there an inexpensive PS2 to USP connector?

I recently purchased an optical PS2 mouse to replace my erratic USB wireless optical mouse but apparently my PS2 connections have "given up the ghost". I pwr off the PC ... disconnect the wireless .... connect the PD2 mouse ... pwr on ... boot is fine but mouse doesn't work. Pwr off ... disconnect PS2 .... connect USB ... pwr on ... everything OK .

Keyboard is a USB so dug out old PS2 keyboard (believe it still works) but when I plug into PS2 'port' and pwr on .... don't get 'F1' keyboard failure but after successful reboot, the keyboard doesn't work.

Have a USB slot I can use for mouse but need 'convertor'. Saw website that waid an 'active' converter was needed ... but it's more $$ than buying a new USB mouse.
