dead mobo?

Every now and again everything that is connected to the USB ports on my motherboard turns on and off (keyboard, mouse, webcam) then it comes back for a while then goes again. This is intermittent and happens every week or two, then it's fine for a while again. I'm suspecting dead/dying motherboard :) or could it just be a loose connection etc?
