Hi,

* Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

Hi,

It may be a good idea to temporary disable your Norton Internet Security during the scan, because I know it interferes with the scanning speed.

Hi,

* Start HijackThis, close all open windows leaving only HijackThis running. Place a check against each of the following:

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,SearchAssistant = http://search.imesh....ar.html?src=ssb <== not recommended
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {89B36511-2ED4-4C1C-B2D7-25E550997BFF} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsqp.dll (file missing)
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: c:\windows\system32\vtsqppq.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: efcdebx - efcdebx.dll (file missing)
O20 - Winlogon Notify: sstqo - C:\WINDOWS\system32\sstqo.dll (file missing)

* Click on Fix Checked when finished and exit HijackThis.
Make sure your Internet Explorer is closed when you click Fix Checked!
Don't worry if you receive an error in HijackThis after you clicked the Fix checked button.

Then, Your version of Java is outdated and needs to be updated to take advantage of fixes that have eliminated security vulnerabilities.

  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • For Platform, select "Windows"
  • For language, select your language
  • Read the License agreement and then Check the box that says: "I agree to the Java SE Runtime Environment 6 License Agreement".
  • Click Continue
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
    - Examples of older versions in Add or Remove Programs:
    • Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.2
    • J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0

Hi,

* Please visit this webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix:

http://www.bleepingc...to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

I'm not sure if combofix worked properly as it seemed to error part way through and the machine restarted,although this could have been intentional.

Hi,

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\evlflgxi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dvscyevp.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\terkrcwv.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\iekwuhhp.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\othmwksp.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mdeqqbqx.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rtubrfin.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\mppdgpvn.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\thrthtng.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\woppoydd.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\uokyqwuj.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nagsnqxn.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\heculqym.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\lfwfxyfn.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssttu.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtstr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsts.exe
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Hi,

We'll have to give this another run, since the infection respawned again..

* Open notepad - don't use any other texteditor than notepad or the script will fail.
Copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into notepad:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kjlkwvuq.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kwdijjma.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nwoxctyb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\edrciqtv.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vxdaathw.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\craghjur.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wininet.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpm.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vtsqppq.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmkhf.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqpo.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\geeba.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddayaxy.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqrq.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\awtsq.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ssqrp.exe
Registry::
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\windows]
"AppInit_DLLs"=""

Save this as txtfile CFScript

Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThislog.

Running combofix as above. System wanted to reboot and generated an error just before it restarted something along the lines of "catchmeexe.dll unable to initialise as windows is shutting down"

On startup the computer has errored:

Explorers.EXE - Unable to Locate Component
This application has failed to start because WININET.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem.

Clicked OK and just left with a cursor on screen and wallpaper. Ctrl-Alt-Del brings up task manager and able to restart machine

Bah, I already see what happened here.. The wininit.dll was in the removal part - was present between the other malware related files.

Don't worry.. we'll fix it.
Press CTRL-ALT-DEL in order to open your taskmanager.

Then via taskmanager, select new task, click the browse button and there you will be able to browse.

Then browse to next folder:

C:\Qoobox\Quarantine\C\Windows\system32\wininet.dll.vir
Rightclick and rename it to wininet.dll
Then, rightclick wininet.dll and choose COPY
Then browse to your C:\Windows\system32 - folder and select paste
This will replace the wininet.dll into your C:\Windows\system32 - folder
