CD Disc drive does not see blank disc

When I use Windows Media and try to burn a disc the program keeps assking me to insert a disc but there is a disc in the drive. When I use Nero I have do problems. Nero sees the disc and burns it. Also another problem when inserting a new program it does not Autorun.
