1. The Problem
My computer (running Windows Vista-64) seems to have become infected with the Virtumonde malware/virus and I cannot seem to get rid of it.
2. The Symptoms
I have noticed no specific symptoms. The computer does seem to run slower than usual when opening programs such as MS Word or Outlook and when opening Firefox.
3. What I've tried so far
I initially detected the virus with S&D Spybot. After performing a scan it detects cookies from "DoubleClick", "MediaPlex", "Tradedoubler" as well as 2 files belonging to Virtumonde.dll - "oPICvVli.dll" and "opnmNHYs.dll".
A Malwarebytes Anti-Malware scan detected "Trojan.Vundo" - about 30 files/registry values. It removed most except for 1 registry key and 4 files and stated it would remove on reboot. On reboot however, the program showed no visual activity.
Scanning again with S&D Spybot reveals the same Virtumonde.dll again !! It removes it again, but it keeps coming back. I tried the VundoFix.exe program, but it does not detect any infected files.
