Hi everyone, thanks for your help.

My mac gets a grey screen and a box in the middle that makes me do a hard restart once in a while. I figured out how to access the console error logs but can't fix them. Help me, please!

First, welcome to Geeks-To-Go.

Secondly, did you do an in place upgrade to Leopard or did it come pre-installed?

Hello Artagnan21,

Do you have the OS X disc that came with your machine? There should be one that says "Hold "D" to startup Diagnostics mode." Run that, and run the extended test. By reading the error logs, I hate to say but it looks like your hard drive maybe going. :) Especially when you mentioned the box on the gray screen. If its the folder with the "flashing question mark", its having a hard time finding the os on the drive. But also in the error log it mentioned:

panic(cpu 1 caller 0x0031678A): "btree_swap_node: about to write corrupt node!\n"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1228.4.31/bsd/hfs/hfs_btreeio.c:197

HFS is part of the Mac OS Filing system. And looks like you have files beginning to corrupt.

I wish I had better news for you. If your machine is still under Apple Warranty you should have no problem getting the hard drive replaced.
