I've installed it on all my XP machines without issue... :)

The download at Windows Update is the most current and is smaller than the stand alone version.

I just used windows update and I didn't get anything called SP3 to download. What's up with that? Are you sure I can get it from there? I wouldn't get it from any other place just so you know.

When it's available, it will show up as an automatic update.

You said "The download at Windows Update is the most current and is smaller than the stand alone version" which told me that is where you got it from and installed it. So are you saying it is not there yet??????

Hi , Microsoft has delayed sp3 from their update site because they found compatibility issue between Microsoft Dynamics Retail Management System (RMS) and both Windows XP SP3 , view link below

You're welcome ! . I think that what Wannabe1 was talking about is to wait until it is available from their site . Once it is , you will get the usual alert or told other wise .

yes its available and have it installed with no problems
all your updates since service pack 2 are put into one
so after you install it you no longer see the lists of patches
it shows only as service pack 3..and its about time
6 more years of windows updates .............to go

Is there a way to tell if it installed or not?

I have Windows Update set to notify me but not just start updating all by itself. I keep it that way precisely so I can google around, and look on here, and see what has happened to braver people who have already gotten that particular update.

Today the little yellow nagadoodle popped up with SP3 as the only item on the menu, and after reading all the How to Prepare stuff, I made a restore point, disabled my antivirus, returned to the little yellow nagadoodle, and clicked.

Nothing happened.

I checked task manager, and it showed nothing running but my Hostman things.

I restarted, thinking maybe something would pop up either congratulating me on having successfully installed SP 3, or the little yellow nagadoodle would pop back up, indicating that for some reason, I had NOT installed SP 3.

But nothing. So I went to the control panel and looked at the System Information thing, which said SP 2.

So now I am confused. I don't know if it installed or not, and if not, why it is too embarrassed to tell me about it.

Is there a way, other than the control panel system information place, to find out whether I now have SP 3, or whether I don't?

Anyone have a link to the redistributable version of SP3? I'll need that for the shop and would prefer it at home as well.

Gracias signore!

Some observations:

SP3 is about 340MB.
Install took almost 25 minutes on my HP 1.8Ghz with 1GB memory.
Cleaned and optimized the registry.
I shut down everything I possibly could before starting the install.

I did see a message about checking Product key so I suspect this will not install on illegal copies of XP (Yeah!).
Took 12 minutes from start to update of first file. Lots of pre stuff.
Blue progress bar stuck at about 50% and didn't move until about 10 seconds before it was done.
One reboot, had two Command Prompt windows open for about 10 seconds then they closed.

So far all is well. Everything is running as before.

Will I be able to run the Recovery Console from my SP2 CD now that SP3 is installed?
I will not be able to do a Repair Install with my SP2 XP C D.

Anyone know if Autostreamer and/or Nlite will slipstream SP3 like they did SP2?
