This is probably a question.. but I have a 2.4ghz Linksys wireless router and notework adapter setup that I am running downstairs off the desktop computer and cable modem. Currently I am using the wireless for my laptop upstairs. My question is though, Ive tried plugging my ethernet cable into the router but I cant get a direct connection from the router, only wireless, Ive tried disabling the wireless.. do I need to configure the LAN or something also? Any help would be appreciated.

Go to control panel, system, click the hardware tab, click the device manager button and look for network adapters. Post back which ones you have installed.
