Hi,

So I recently got winself.exe according to McAfee... but it won't let me delete it.

I am running windows xp .. service pack 2... the following is my hijack list... please help... I know I have to use Combofix... but what do I need to do with hijack list... should i check and fix some on the list???

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and choose Install to extract it to its own folder on the Desktop. Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

• Restart your computer
• After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
• Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
• Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
• Choose your usual account.

• Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
• Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
• It will remove any Trojan Services or Registry Entries found then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
• Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
• When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
• Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt.
• Finally copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt back onto the forum with a new HijackThis log

Thanks for replying. Appreciate it.

I followed those steps. Now, I seem to have a new problem:

When I run the SDfix in safe mode, an error comes up:

"regedit.exe - Unable to load component

This application has failed to start because clb.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem"

The same error now also shows up when starting windows. I reinstalled sdfix... but to no avail.

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. Don't select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.
