hello everybody,

I was underway to format my harddrive and re-install XP as i have already done before.
My normal procedure, is to reboot with windows CD, choose recovery console,
format C: /fs:ntfs . Now unless my memorey is rusty, that's how i've done it.
What is happening now is that after i type the format command line, it asks whether i really want to continue, i type Y and it starts then 5 seconds after it's back to the c promt. In other words nothing happens! and the disc is untouched.

Am i missing something terribly obvious?

thanks for advice

Have you tried just loading up the win xp disc, choose: make new installation of xp, select partition, choose format with file system ntfs? that usually works...if its still give you trouble wipe the drive using a boot and nuke program.
