So my friend recently dumped his hard drive and my mom let him borrow her Windows XP disc to re-install windows. Well when he did that it took away his internet connection completely. I am good with the software side of computers usually but this is one thing I can't figure out because I know that he should have used his windows XP disc but he said he lost it. Now his laptop is basically not usable. I need help getting his internet connection back up and going. He has Windows XP Service Pack 1, it is an HP Special Edition L2000. Can anyone please help!

Use another computer, go to HP support and download all the drivers you need for the laptop. Burn to a disk or a flash memory, move the device to the laptop and install the drivers.

When the communication is established run windows updates to download and install sp-2 plus over 90 other updates.
