So my friend recently dumped his hard drive and my mom let him borrow her Windows XP disc to re-install windows. Well when he did that it took away his internet connection completely. I am good with the software side of computers usually but this is one thing I can't figure out because I know that he should have used his windows XP disc but he said he lost it. Now his laptop is basically not usable. I need help getting his internet connection back up and going. He has Windows XP Service Pack 1, it is an HP Special Edition L2000. Can anyone please help! :)

Use another computer, go to HP support and download all the drivers you need for the laptop. Burn to a disk or a flash memory, move the device to the laptop and install the drivers.

When the communication is established run windows updates to download and install sp-2 plus over 90 other updates.
