Hi all,

I am having a little problem downloading SP3 from Windows Update.

I have been "downloading" for about 3 hours now, and the download bar has not moved at all. The file is only 66.9mb or something, so theres no way it would take this long.

If I look at my firewall, I can tell that svchost.exe has downloaded over 100mb (see screenshot)

Does anyone know why it is taking so long to download?

As in that thread, here is my boot.ini file:
;
;Warning: Boot.ini is used on Windows XP and earlier operating systems.
;Warning: Use BCDEDIT.exe to modify Windows Vista boot options.
;
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /NOEXECUTE=OPTIN /FASTDETECT

If it helps, I have a dual-boot of Vista, and I do not have WindowBlinds installed.

Let it finish downloading...it's considerably larger than 66MB...it should be well over 200MB.

OK well, just for the information it is now up to 206.6MB according to svchost.exe, and the download bar still has not moved.

OK, just to update on the situation... the download has now been going for 7 hours, has downloaded 323MB (bigger than the full SP3 file) and has still not moved on the download bar.

Any sugestions now?

Yeah...stop that download. You could have walked over and got it from them by now.

Have you tried downloading the redistributable version? SP3 for IT Professionals

Burn that to a cd and install it that way.

Nevermind, I waited for another 10 minutes (The download went up to almost 350MB, but it downloaded sucessfully) and the download bar jumped right to the end... Strange. I have installed Service Pack 3.

Thanks anyway!
