Hi!
I seem to be having great problems with a virus or malware or such like. I've been using spybot search and destroy and adaware but it keeps returning. I keep getting lots of pop ups and i think it is interfering with my internet explorer security etc! I'd be very grateful for any assistance! I've posted my hijack this log below,

Hi Rich,

We have some work to do on this sick PC :tazz:

Please print out a copy of these instructions so that they are easier to follow and so that you have them handy when you need to reboot your PC

Carry out a free online virus scan from the following link and allow it to fix anything it may find.

Trend housecall

Next please download the following two programs. Install them and update them both. Do not run them just yet.

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.3

Ad-aware S E 1.5

Download the following but do not use it yet.

Cleanup

Download CWShredder here to its own folder.

Update CWShredder

* Open CWShredder and click I AGREE
* Click Check For Update
* Close CWShredder

Boot into Safe Mode:
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.

Press Ctrl/Alt/Delete to enter task manager, click processes tab and if any of the following are present END TASK them.

Now run CWShredder. Click I Agree, then Fix and then Next, let it fix everything it asks about.

Exit Explorer, and clean out your temp files and junk by using the Cleanup program you downloaded earlier.

Reverse the show hidden files procedure to hide hidden files

Reboot as normal, rescan your PC with HJT and post the log in this thread.

Hi again 'usetobe'!

Thanks so much for your help - i'd never been able to beat this thing without you! Hopefully i have got rid of it now! I was wondering how i could stop any more of these malware/spyware etc things getting there way into my computer?! Is there any good free anti virus software available on the internet? Unfortunately, I couldn't get Trend HouseCall to work on either netscape or Internet explorer..but I followed all your other instructions.

Ensure no windows open except HJT and click on FIX CHECKED.

Download the following free 14 day trial of Ewido.

Install it and update it. Then reboot PC into SAFE MODE, by tapping the F8 key whilst your PC starts up. Select SAFE MODE.

Then double click on the new icon for the Ewido program. You can't miss it, it's a big yellow E. It will ask you to upgrade the database. Follow the instructions.
Once it is ready click on the Scanner button, Select C drive if you have more than one and then start.

grab a cup of coffee, sandwiches, book and sleeping bag :tazz: as this will take some time. Once the first problem is detected ensure you tick the box for all (bottom left) and allow it to continue.

At the end of the scan, it may ask if you would like to delete anything found in archive or zipped files, OK that request, then click on save report. SAVE to the default location, it will then generate a text file. Copy that to post in this thread.

Reboot back into normal mode and carry out a free online virus scan from the following link. You need to enter your name, for company type anything you want and add your email address.

Kaspersky

Carry out another HJT scan and post the log back here together with the ewido post, so we can sort out any remnants
