HI

Download Deckard's System Scanner (formerly Comboscan) to your Desktop.

Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.

1. Close all applications and windows.
2. Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
3. When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
4. Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt in your next reply.
5. Then do the same with extra.txt

Note: you'll find extra.txt here :- C:\Deckard\System Scanner\extra.txt

I don't know if it's related or not, but thought I should mention that since about 2 days ago whenever I'm on the internet it is really slow - I've rebooted modem/wireless/pc and still mega slow. Everything looks normal so I wonder if it could be related to whatever has infacted my machine? Although the pop ups started months ago and this is only recent. What do you think?

Ok, here we go. First main.txt then extra.txt:

main.txt

I don't know if it's related or not, but thought I should mention that since about 2 days ago whenever I'm on the internet it is really slow - I've rebooted modem/wireless/pc and still mega slow. Everything looks normal so I wonder if it could be related to whatever has infacted my machine? Although the pop ups started months ago and this is only recent. What do you think?

Ok, here we go. First main.txt then extra.txt:

Hi

I can see the infection's back ...

First I want you to run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again ... update the program first ...please refer back to post #2 if you need to.... post the new log please ...

second I need you to run Combofix again, but this program is now out-of-date, you will need to delete your Combofix.exe file from your desktop & download a new version ( from the same link as last time) refer to post #5

Post the new Combofix log please ...

You should only ever have one version of java installed (the latest) as older version can be exploited by malware ... you have all these installed :-

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 7 --> MsiExec.exe /I{3248F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0150070}
J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 9 --> MsiExec.exe /I{3248F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0150090}
Java 2 Runtime Environment, SE v1.4.1_01 --> RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\INSTAL~1\engine\6\INTEL3~1\Ctor.dll,LaunchSetup

Java™ 6 Update 2 --> MsiExec.exe /I{3248F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0160020}
Java™ 6 Update 3 --> MsiExec.exe /I{3248F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0160030}
Java™ 6 Update 5 --> MsiExec.exe /I{3248F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0160050}
Java™ 6 Update 7 --> MsiExec.exe /I{3248F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0160070}
Java™ SE Runtime Environment 6 Update 1 --> MsiExec.exe /I{3248F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0160010}

Go to Add/Remove Programs & uninstall all of them except this one :-

Java™ 6 Update 7 --> MsiExec.exe /I{3248F0A8-6813-11D6-A77B-00B0D0160070}

We also need to clean out your temporary files, so please do this :-

Please Download CCleaner from :-

http://www.filehippo...nload_ccleaner/ (click the download tab)

During the installation be sure to UN-check the box for "Ccleaner Yahoo Toolbar" unless you want it.

doubleclick the ccsetup.exe file and install the program...

After installing, go to Start > programs > CCleaner > Options > Advanced > UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"

Make sure the "windows" tab is selected

Under "internet explorer" tick...

Temporary internet files
Cookies* > see Note below
History
Recently typed URL's
(leave this unticked if you DON'T want to clear the drop down list in the address window of IE)
Delete index.dat files
Last download location
Autocomplete form history

under "Windows explorer" these are optional, but you can safely tick them all if you wish, they are only "most recently used lists"

Other explorer MRU's
(leave this unticked if you DON'T want to clear lists such as the start\run list)

under "System"

Tick ALL these ...

under "Advanced"

no need to tick any of these (but you can if you want, and realise what they do)

Applications tab...

These will mostly clean out old log files for these applications...

Clean:- (if you use them)

Firefox/Mozilla (optional - leave the cookies - see note)
Opera
Sun Java
ZoneAlarm

...
Personally I clean everything in the applications tab... but you tick what you want...

Note: *If there are any cookies you want to keep (if you remove the cookie for a site you require a password for, you will need to re-enter your password when you next visit that site) ... click options > cookies > then keep the cookies you want.

click "analyse" if you want to see a list of what is going to be removed, before it is removed.

Or

click "run cleaner" to let it get on with it's work... clicking this will result in the following pop-up

"This process will permanently delete files from your system. Are you sure you wish to proceed?"

click OK.

cheers

I apologise if there are multiple replies again... everything's running so slow its getting hard to post on here :)

I have two logs from the anti malware scan - before and after fixing. I removed all the java programs as per your instructions and ran ccleaner too. Did you want me to do another scan of some sort after that?

Here are my logs:

I have two logs from the anti malware scan - before and after fixing. I removed all the java programs as per your instructions and ran ccleaner too. Did you want me to do another scan of some sort after that?

Here are my logs:

HI

I apologise if there are multiple replies again... every thing's running so slow its getting hard to post on here

I have two logs from the anti malware scan - before and after fixing. I removed all the java programs as per your instructions and ran ccleaner too. Did you want me to do another scan of some sort after that?

Is it not running any quicker after running Ccleaner ?

You posted exactly what I asked for Thank You...

Both of the programs you ran target this malware, & removed most of it a while ago ...

This time round Combofix is clean ... because Malwarebytes removed it first :)

The root of the problem with these pop-ups appears to come from firefox ... one poster was asked to uninstall & reinstall firefox (which resolved the problem) ... which is a bit extreme in this case, so I had intended to look deeper at firefox ... BUT ... look what Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware found this time :)

C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\components\nsBrowserGal.dll

I am confident your adzgalore problem is now resolved :)

Please run Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware again to make sure the scan is now clean ...

Hello, I think it's fixed... Thank you so so much! I have pasted the anti-malware log below which says it's clean. I have also established that my very slow internet connection is due to the isp doing work in the area - nice of them to give us warning!

Now. Which programs should I keep and which should I delete that I have downloaded to do this? I have:

ATF cleaner
Super anti-spyware
Avenger
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware
DSS
Combofix
CCleaner

I figure I should probably keep ccleaner to run every so often - not sure about the others.

This is the anti-malware log:

Hi

Excellent :)

First ...

Go to Start > Run > copy and paste ComboFix /u into the Open: box & press OK

Posted Image

This will uninstall Combofix, delete any of its related folders and files (Qoobox, VundoFix Backups, Avenger, Deckard, _OTMoveIt), reset your clock settings, hide file extensions, hide the system/hidden files and resets System Restore again.

Then, as you say ... I would keep Ccleaner & run it probably once a week, I would also keep Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (it's using no resources - only when you actually run it) update & run it if you feel you may have a spyware problem, remember to keep the log so that you can show it to any helper, if you seek advice in a forum.

All the others you can remove, new versions can always be downloaded in the future, should they be required :)

Please Have a look here at ways to keep your computer safe :-

So how did I get infected in the first place? By TonyKlein > http://forums.spybot...hread.php?t=279

Happy surfing :)
