Hi there AccidentalClick,

I am not seeing much in your log. But it seems you have alot of legitimate files missing it seems, did you do something before these issues arose?

Fixes With OTScanIt

Start OTScanIt. Copy/Paste the information in the Code box below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button.

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. CLick the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here along with a new OTScanIt scan.

I will review the information when it comes back in.

Running Kaspersky Online Virusscaner

Please run a free online scan with Kaspersky AntiVirus (works only with MS Internet Explorer 5.0 or higher).
Go to http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner and click the "Kaspersky Online Scanner" button (NOT "Kaspersky File Scanner").
  • In the new window that opens, click the "Accept" button to accept the user agreement, install the ActiveX control, and download the program.
  • When you get the Windows dialog asking if you want to install this software, click the "Install" button.
  • When the "Update progress" line changes to "Ready" and the "NEXT ->" button lights up with a green arrow, click it.
  • Click on the "Scan Settings" button, and in the next window select the "extended" database, and click Ok.
  • Under "Please select a target to scan:", click My Computer to start the scan.
When the scan is finished, click the "Save as Text" button, and save the file as kavscan.txt to your Desktop, close the Kaspersky On-line Scanner window, and post the text in kavscan.txt in your next reply.

Post back with the OTScanIt log, the Kaspersky log and a new Hijack This log.
Are there any issues with your computer at the moment, if so can you tell me whats happening?

Really? Missing files, you say? Dunno. Although my friend who installed McAfee mentioned something about my computer possibly not having genuine Microsoft Software...

As for the second computer, none yet. But previous glitches include shutting down randomly and taking a long time to load stuff. Any way to speed it up after all of this stuff is finished?

EDIT: OK, I accedentally ran OTScanIt while my internet window was still open... :) Then, my computer decided to randomly shut off! Now, I tried to run OTScan it again, but after a few minutes, it's still not done! What should I do?

Hi,

This fix doesn't have anything in it that OTScanIt cannot handle, would you please try again?
Also could you proceed with the Kaspersky scan?

Hm... It seems to have gotten worse.

1) My 2nd computer no longer seems to accept any type of USB device. I can't put in USB Drives to save those notepad files, NOR can I now access the internet...

2) The computer downs even more frequently now. Taking less time and doing so even if I use the simplest programs...

So, yeah. I can't seem to find a way to do this...

Hi AccidentalClick,

I just noticed something that I overlooked before:

Really? Missing files, you say? Dunno. Although my friend who installed McAfee mentioned something about my computer possibly not having genuine Microsoft Software...

Is your version of windows cracked? i.e Is it not legitimate?

On your 2nd computer, do you not have internet access? Did you suspect malware when you asked for help on your second computer, if not it may be better suited for our Tech forums here at geekstogo.

Please answer these questions before we proceed.

This, I'm not quite sure. I wasn't the one who got the computer. My brother bought it from a store (forgot which one) a few years ago and gave it to me. Any way to find out if it's legitimate or not?

No, I don't. I have a modem with wireless internet. It's attached to the 1st computer. My second computer is in a second room, and I use a USB Adapter to get an internet connection with my second computer. I do suspect malware has caused this, but could there be another possibility as to why my computer acts like that? It wasn't like this when I first got it. In fact, the errors began occurring around Summer of last year.

Hi there AccidentalClick,

Can you still not access the internet or plug in any USB devices?

It sounds to me like you are having more of a hardware issue, than a malware issue, there are no outstanding entries in your logs that could have caused this as far as I can see.

Let's try getting your computer back online,

Go to start > All programs > accessories > System tools and choose System Restore.

Where it says "To begin, select the task that you want to perform" check the circle next to "Restore my computer to an earlier time". Click on next.

On the calendar that shows up, navigate to around the 27th of may or a week from today, select a restore point and click next.

It will now proceed with the system restore, follow the prompts and when your computer reboots try and see if you can plug in a USB device or connect to the internet.

If so please do this for me:

Please run the MGA Diagnostic Tool and post back the report it shall produce:

1. Download MGADiag to your desktop.
2. Double-click on MGADiag.exe to launch the program
3. Click "Continue"
4. Ensure that the "Windows" tab is selected (it should be by default).
5. Click the "Copy" button to copy the MGA Diagnostic Report to the Windows clipboard.
6. Paste the MGA Diagnostic Report back here in your next reply.

Hm... Perhap it is a hardware issue... Anyways, the USB's still cause problems. Not as frequently, but I still get BSODs...

If anything good happens, I'll post it here. If not, assume I'm still trying to get it done. :)

EDIT: OK, got onto the internet with my second computer via my USB Adapter. Considering it worked, should I proceed with a System Restore? Or should I do that only if the problem continues?

One thing. I've noticed several svchost.exe processes running, as well as other shady processes like msmsgs.exe. From what I've seen, these seem to originate from malware. Any way of getting rid of these and making my computer run faster, despite it apparantly being ingenuine?

Hi there AccidentalClick,

I want to make sure of one thing:
a. Click Start, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update or Microsoft Update.
b. On the Windows Update Web site or on the Microsoft Update Web site, click Review your update history. A window opens that shows all the updates that have been installed or that have failed to install on the computer.
c. Do you have any updates listed?
