I noticed this forum after I googled the above description. I understand that the program is part of my A/V. I received F-Secure free for one year with my Wild Blue satellite internet service. I am not particularly attached to it and would be happy to use another good program that is also cheap (free?). When I return to my computer after having left it with several programs open, the processor sometimes chatters for several minutes with very sluggish responses to my mouse clicks. When I open task manager to see what is running, fssm32.exe is using up the majority of memory, more even than iexplorer. Also near the top of the CPU column is SystemIdle, though it doesn't take up much memory. I have used this anti-virus for a couple of months and just lately noticed the problem. I don't know if fssm32.exe is the culprit or if it's being exacerbated by something else. My logs follow.
