Hey everyone! So, I've been ripping my hair out with my wifes laptop now for a week. I have tried everything I could think possible to get rid of this trojan to no avail. Here I am...please help.

The problem is that the CPU is running at 100%, it takes FOREVER to open anything. If you open IE, you get pop-ups. At one point it appeared as if the computer was trying to send out e-mails (but I cannot confirm that this is still going on). I have AVG running and it's calling it trojan horse downloader.delf.AN

I have tried everything on the read me first and will post the logs from that. There was another virus but those steps seemed to remove that and leave us with just the one virus, but you be the judge. The other one was win32/heur

Thanks so much in advance for any help that anyone can provide.

Here are the logs:

Your Java is out of date. Older versions have vulnerabilities that malicious sites can use to infect your system. Please follow these steps to remove older version Java components and update:
  • Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6 and save it to your desktop.
  • Scroll down to where it says "Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6 Update 6...allows end-users to run Java applications".
  • Click the "Download" button to the right.
  • Read the License Agreement and then check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". The page will refresh.
  • Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation and save the file to your desktop.
  • Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser.
  • Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel, double-click on Add/Remove Programs and remove all older versions of Java.
  • Check (highlight) any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name.
  • Click the Remove or Change/Remove button.
  • Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java versions.
  • Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed.
  • Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6u6-windows-i586-p.exe to install the newest version.

TO BEGIN

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {95B2E83B-9B18-435B-8714-91312E79DD6A} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmimel.dll

O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {0BF43445-2F28-4351-9252-17FE6E806AA0} - (no file)

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [ykvy9a7vxbu] C:\WINDOWS\system32\ykvy9a7vxbu.exe
O20 - Winlogon Notify: tkvazrxc - cryptsvcm.dll (file missing)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

FINALLY FOR NOW

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Essexboy,

Thanks for the quick reply, it almost grew wings. I will do as you instructed and report back ASAP. It will probably take a few hours as I have to run out for work, but I will report back soon. Thanks so much!

Essexboy,

Unfortunately I don't think that we got it that time around as AVG is still showing the threat everytime I open IE.

Thanks for all your help on this.

~Joey

Hi again - I must admit I would have been surprised if we zapped it first time round

1. Please open Notepad
  • Click Start , then Run
  • Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

KillAll::

Driver::
arbwrcuv

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmimel.dll
c:\windows\system32\cryptsvcm.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\arbwrcuv.dat

Folder::
C:\Documents and Settings\the MAN\Application Data\xdoignyv
C:\Documents and Settings\NetworkService\Application Data\xdoignyv

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{95B2E83B-9B18-435B-8714-91312E79DD6A}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{FF8233A2-C5C3-443E-AB90-4720958CD16E}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\tkvazrxc]

3. Then in the text file go to FILE > SAVE AS and in the dropdown box select SAVE AS TYPE to ALL FILES

4. Save the above as CFScript.txt

5. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

Posted Image

THEN

Download OTScanit to your Desktop and double-click on it to extract the files. It will create a folder named OTScanIt on your desktop.
  • Close ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
  • Open the OTScanit folder and double-click on OTScanit.exe to start the program.
  • Check the box that says Scan All User Accounts
  • Check the Radio buttons for Files/Folders Created Within 90 Days and Files/Folders Modified Within 90 Days
  • Under Additional Scans check the following:
    • Reg - BotCheck
    • Reg - Desktop Components
    • Reg - Disabled MS Config Items
    • File - Additional Folder Scans
    • File - Purity Scan
  • Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
  • Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
  • When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
  • Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Please attach the log in your next post.

To attach a file, do the following:
  • Click Add Reply
  • Under the reply panel is the Attachments Panel
  • Browse for the attachment file you want to upload, then click the green Upload button
  • Once it has uploaded, click the Manage Current Attachments drop down box
  • Click on Posted Image to insert the attachment into your post

Essexboy,

I have to honestly say I think that it may be gone as AVG doesn't give me the pop up message about the trojan anymore, but you be the judge.

If so....I will be doing cartwheels for the next couple of minutes.

I will attach the logs.

Thanks so much.

Killing the driver on the last run may well have done it :)

Start OTScanit. Copy/Paste the information in the quotebox below into the pane where it says "Paste fix here" and then click the Run Fix button.

[Unregister Dlls]
[Files/Folders - Created Within 90 days]
NY -> nptrcimj.dat -> %SystemRoot%\System32\drivers\nptrcimj.dat
NY -> At1.job -> %SystemRoot%\tasks\At1.job
[Files Created - Additional Folder Scans - Non-Microsoft Only]
NY -> xdoignyv -> %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\xdoignyv
[Files/Folders - Modified Within 90 days]
NY -> ricdb.ini -> %SystemRoot%\ricdb.ini
NY -> tkweb -> %SystemRoot%\tkweb
NY -> tkweb.ini -> %SystemRoot%\tkweb.ini
[Empty Temp Folders]

The fix should only take a very short time. When the fix is completed a message box will popup telling you that it is finished. Click the Ok button and Notepad will open with a log of actions taken during the fix. Post that information back here along with a new Hijackthis log.

I will review the information when it comes back in.

Also let me know of any problems you encountered performing the steps above or any continuing problems you are still having with the computer.

POSSIBLY THE FINAL SCAN

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here or Here

Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Quick Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove,you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts,click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer,please do so immediatly.

If I could have the MBAM result and the OTScanit report, plus how is your computer now ?

Essexboy,

I have to say I think this machine is running better than the day everything was fresh installed :)

I am ready to go do cartwheels and I have closed my window, so I don't think I will be throwing the computer anymore. i can't believe how easy you made that seem.

The requested log files are attached. Let me know what you think.

Alas now is the time that I must say to you.....................................

Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean :)

Double click OTScanit once again and you should see a CleanUp! button, press that button, you may get prompted by your firewall that OTScanit wants to contact the internet, allow this, a cleanup.txt will be downloaded, a message dialog will ask you if you want to proceed with the cleanup process, click Yes. This will delete all the tools you have downloaded plus itself

Now to get you off to a good start we will re-set your restore points so that all the bad stuff is gone for good. Then if you need to restore at some stage you will be clean. There are several ways to reset your your restore point but this is my method:

1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > System Restore.
2. On the dialogue box that appears select Create a Restore Point
3. Click NEXT
4. Enter a name e.g. Clean
5. Click CREATE

You now have a clean restore point, to get rid of the bad ones:

1. Select Start > All Programs > Accessories > System tools > Disk Cleanup.
2. In the Drop down box that appears select your main drive e.g. C
3. Click OK
4. The System will do some calculation and the display a dialogue box with TABS
5. Select the More Options Tab.
6. At the bottom will be a system restore box with a CLEANUP button click this
7. Accept the Warning and select OK again, the program will close and you are done

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free program: It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

To keep your operating system up to date visit

To learn more about how to protect yourself while on the internet read this article by Tony Klien: So how did I get infected in the first place?

Keep safe :)
