Great -- OK we will check the file out at Jotti and then back it up with Avenger. By the way how is your system now ? I will check my link as well thanks

Jotti File Submission:
  • Please go to Jotti's malware scan
  • Copy and paste the following file path into the "File to upload & scan"box on the top of the page:

    • C:\WINDOWS\system32\monzpbvo.exe
  • Click on the submit button
  • Please post the results in your next reply.

THEN
1. Please download The Avenger2 by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
  • Right click on the Avenger.zip folder and select "Extract All..."
  • Follow the prompts and extract the avenger folder to your desktop
2. Copy all the text contained in the code box below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):

Begin copying here:

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\monzpbvo.exe
C:\WINDOWS\tasks\bcwzfq.job

Note: the above code was created specifically for this user. If you are not this user, do NOT follow these directions as they could damage the workings of your system.

3. Now, open the avenger folder and start The Avenger program by clicking on its icon.
  • Right click on the window under Input script here:, and select Paste.
  • You can also Paste the text copied to the clipboard into this window by pressing (Ctrl+V), or click on the third button under the menu to paste it from the clipboard.
  • Click on Execute
  • Answer "Yes" twice when prompted.
4. The Avenger will automatically do the following:
  • It will Restart your computer. ( In cases where the code to execute contains "Drivers to Delete" or "Drivers to Disable", The Avenger will actually restart your system twice.)
  • After the restart, it creates a log file that should open with the results of Avenger’s actions. This log file will be located at C:\avenger.txt
  • The Avenger will also have backed up all the files, etc., that you asked it to delete, and will have zipped them and moved the zip archives to C:\avenger\backup.zip.
5. Please copy/paste the content of c:\avenger.txt into your reply along with a fresh Hijackthis log .

Upload to Jotti not good :
The file you uploaded is 0 bytes. It is very likely a firewall or a piece of malware is prohibiting you from uploading this file

The PC sometimes is slow now ... but there have been a lot of additions. I am sure it will improve with the clean-up: specially if I'll get rid of Bluetooth, Messenger and Picasa at the startup session. I would like to do this soon.

OK let me remove the programmes that I had you download

Download this small programme. When run click the cleanit button and it will remove the specialist programmes I have used plus itself
http://download.blee...r/OTCleanIt.exe

By the way did I tell you that this is a legitimate file nwprovau.dll

Now for a quick tidy up

After you have used this programme you can uninstall it - it is a fully functional trial, it also has a start up manager

Download, install and run Tuneup Utilities 2008

Select Free up disk space

Select Unneccesary files and backups then clean

Select Maintain Windows

Run Drive Defrag

Run Tune Up registry clean up

Then run Reg Defrag, the screen will lose colour during the process which can take a few minutes and then needs a reboot

Those will have cleared the drive of obsolete software errors

These are suggestions for making the most of the free trial

Select Increase performance

Run the internet Optimiser to accelerate downloads, select the speed just above your actual connection speed, this requires a reboot.

After the reboot, click Increase performance then system optimizer to run system advisor

OK, many thanks for your suggestions.
I made a re-check on C:\WINDOWS for the "alien" and noticed that the file monzpbvo.exe is now moved to AVENGER folder, while the file MONZPBVO.EXE-18126109.pf is still on directory C:\WINDOWS\Prefetch. Should we leave it there ?

As for the nwprovau.dll file, I know that is a legitimate file for WinXP ... but before the infection that screwed-up the DNS, there was no item 10 on the HiJackThis log. That was the reason why I named the post in such a manner.
