Go to Start > Run - type:

msinfo32

Click OK.

Expand the "Software Environment" branch (click the plus sign) then click on "Windows Error Reporting."
Scroll down to when you received the generic host error message.

I need you to highlight that error, then press CTRL + C to copy it. Then paste it here.

Then, make sure you are disconnected from the Internet and that all programs and windows are closed.

Go to Start > Run - type:

chkdsk

Click OK.

Let it finish.

Then go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools

Under "System Tools" click on Disk Defragmenter. Click to highlight your C: and click "Defragment". Let it defragment your drive - defragmenting takes a while to do, just make sure you're not doing anything on the computer while it's running! Reboot your machine.

Do this for me, just for good measure:

1. Click Start > Control Panel.

2. Double-click the Java icon in the control panel. (Let me know if it says "Java Plug-in" under the iconbecause you won't be able to follow my directions if it does.)

3. Click Settings under Temporary Internet Files.

4. Click Delete Files.

There are three options on this window to clear the cache - leave ALL 3 checked.
1. Delete Files
2. View Applications
3. View Applets

5. Click OK on Delete Temporary Files window.
Note: This deletes ALL the Downloaded Applications and Applets from the CACHE.

6. Click OK on Temporary Files Settings window.

7. Click OK to leave the Java Control Panel.

There should be a button somewhere on that control panel that says "update", please update it - reboot your computer, then follow my previous instructions for deleting the Java cache files.

Then I really need to see what that error message said...

And how did you run disk defragmenter in 15 minutes?? lol

Open Notepad, and copy everything in the code box below and paste it into a new notepad file. Change the "Save As Type" to "All Files". Save it as fix.reg on your Desktop. Make sure there is NO blank line above "REGEDIT4"!

REGEDIT4

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\Legacy_ITUNESMUSIC]

[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\Legacy_RDRIV]

Locate fix.reg on your Desktop and double-click on it. When it asks if you want to merge with the registry, click YES.

Reboot your computer.

Ah, I'm sorry to hear that! :tazz: I hope she is feeling better!

Do you have Sun Java? Is there an option in the Java control panel to delete files?

Use regedit and navigate to this key (if present) and highlight everything inside it and copy by holding CTRL + C and paste it here.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system

Do the same for these 3 keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explorer

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer

Do not delete anything. I just want to see if there are any restrictions set that shouldn't be there.

*Download finditnt2000xp.zip
*Unzip the contents of finditnt2000xp.zip to a convenient location.
*Navigate to the Find It NT-2K-XP folder and double-click on find.bat.
*A command prompt will open and it will search your computer for malicious files.
*Once it has finished a Notepad window will pop up with output.txt.
*Copy the entire contents of output.txt into your next post.
