Hi, as the title says I had and failed update attempt that made my LG H20 DVD driver not function properly, among other things I may have missed so far.

So I'll first give out my configuration:

MSI P6N SLI i650 chipset 7350 bios version: 2.5
E4300 core 2 duo @ 2.400 ghz
2 GB ram DDR2 667mhz Kingston
160 SATAII hd seagate barracuda

Windows XP SP2

So here's when it all began:

I had an virus, spyware, trojan, general malware infected computer (witch I manage to resolve is this very same forum thanks to the wonderful staff). But before I was clean and safe I tried to make things better by updating my bios, mother board driver and VGA drivers. The bios and VGA where successfully updated. BUT... the nvidia motherboard driver update I downloaded from MSI website wouldn't run properly.
The first time I ran it gave me a message that Older drivers had been found, and also the option to choose yes or no (you're right, it doesn't make sense since is not a question to be answered yes or no). Either way, I clicked the yes button and I assume it tried to install the new drives on top of the old ones. the installation later gave me an error and was automaticly shutdown. So I uninstalled all the drivers related to the update (old or new) and tried to run the msi update again. This time it gave me a different error : 1607, saying I had to have Isntallshield 2008 installed on this machine in order to run the program...

I seriously don't know what to do....

Some more info for you guys: the driver I downloaded was the NVIDIA 650i System Driver v8.43

Can anyone help me? anyone has a hint about whats wrong??

Thanks a lot for your time!!
