XP connection lost after installing vista

so this is funnny

i installed vista few days ago on the drive so i can dual boot vista and XP
now the connection works only on vista but not XP even the 2 systems are on the same harddisk

my desktop is connected to a router via a cable
when i check the router status using my laptop it doesnt show my pc's connection
and obviously i cant connect to on my desktop using XP ( but it works in vista )

i dont know if this has anything to do with installing vista

any ideas?
