I run on Windows XP Pro

I have tried run: gpedit.msc

User Configuration->Administrative Templates->Control Panel->Display->Set "Prevent changing wallpaper" to disabled, or not configured. ---doesn't work

I also tried to run regsvr32 /i shimgvw.dll and
regsvr32 /i shell32.dll doesnt work

I tried to paste this
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop]
"NoChangingWallPaper"=dword:00000000
"NoAddingComponents"=dword:00000000
"NoComponents"=dword:00000000
"NoDeletingComponents"=dword:00000000
"NoEditingComponents"=dword:00000000
"NoCloseDragDropBands"=dword:00000000
"NoMovingBands"=dword:00000000
"NoHTMLWallPaper"=dword:00000000

and add it to the registry and it doesn't work :)

I could only change it if I go right click desktop->Desktop tab->Click on Windows xp background-> change the color on the drop menu-> and apply, then it turns into windows xp background. I then change it into my own bckground, but if I refresh it turns grey again:(

I tried to paste this into notepad

[-HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

[-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System]

then change the "save as type" to "all files" and save it as unlock.reg

double click on the file, and click yes when it asks you if you want to merge the information with the registry.

next, search your computer for desktop.html and popup.html and delete them if found. doesnt work either.

PLEASE HELP ME

We now need to make certain that this issue is not malware because if we troubleshoot otherwise we may be wasting our time.

I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide.

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).
