DV Problem with Camcorder

I have always used our JVC GR-D240 to transfer data to the pc via the dv cable and then use movie editing software. The computer all of a sudden stopped picking up the connection to the camcorder when it was plugged in. After various checks with cables, other peoples camcorders on my pc and my camcorder on other peoples pc's, I have figured out that the problem is the actual DV port on the camcorder itself that has stopped working. Do you know if this is something that can be fixed, or is it something that will not be cost-effective?

Thanks for your help,
