my computer refuses to load the operating system... i have tried pressing F8, F9 and F10 and all i get is a blank screen....in short i cant get passed the bios. it happened after I tried to abort an accidental restart. sometimes i can deliberately stop a restart by opening a program- i guess its just my tempermental pc...

am i completely screwed? :tazz:

so you see bios, then nothing if you don't hit a key?

tap f8 ONCE EVERY second when you see the bios hardware detection phase...hitting it too many times will lock up the machine.

yeah thanks, but im afraid that didnt work either... I've got a bad feeling about the hard drives- i suspect it could be virus related or something to do with bad clusters. either way i cant load the operating system. I have two very small hard drives- about 2gb each and i've tried swopping the jumper settings but no result.
