Been digging on pricewatch to upgrade\replace my current computer system.

I currently have P4 2.8Ghz, 2.5GB Ram, nVidia 7600GS video card.

This is what I keep coming back too for the past few days:

http://www.ascendtec...DTA646000512160

AMD No Os Athlon 64 X2 6000 AM2
K8M890M-M DDR-2 SATA PCI-Express X16 -MBoard
1GB DDR2 RAM
80Gb SATA Hard Drive
DVD/ROM DRIVE
DeltaChrome 3D 256MB OnBoard Video
6-Channel Audio
10/100 Ethernet (LAN)

I have added to this config:

2gb Pc2 6400 800mhz Ddr2 Kit 2x1gb Chips
Atx Black Midtower Case W/ 400watt Ps

Total shipped is 281.71$ Their video cards were a bit pricy, so I was looking to get a 7600GT card for about 60-70$ shipped elsewhere. Keeping me under 400$ total.

Whata think? I'm not a hardcore gamer, I just like to play a driving game, or other free demo's now and then. I have a 120GB drive (non sata) for other data, and also have a 500GB USB external for other data storage. I also have a USB 2.0 external dual layer DVD burner, so don't really care if it sits on top of the case.

Looks like a pretty decent build. Hecka lot better then mine :) (see specs on sig)

Once you get a halfway decent video card and boost the RAM, looks pretty sweet! :)

Looks like you have what I am upgrading from......I do alot of video conversions for my iPod Touch, so figured
this performance would improve as well.

Yeah, I would expect so.

I really shouldn't complain about my comp tho, it does what I need it to. I'm going to upgrade the video card sooner then later tho... :)

I got stuck with a AGP slot, so all I could find retail (as the previous card died) was a 7600GS nVidia card.

All I've got is 3 PCI :) Rather annoying when all the cheap cards are PCI-e :)

Well, of course all the prices went up, options changed, etc so I am digging around on Pricewatch once again. Core price went up
10$, now has 40GB drive instead of 80GB included, and all the options went up drastically....

I'm looking at this place now, and their prices don't gouge as much for upgrades:

http://www.computerl...?category_ID=77

I'm going with the 5600+ over the 6000+ as the power consumption is 1/2 of the 6000+ (It's 65W vs 125W)

I figure it won't be as much as a drain on the PS.

It's sitting at 355$ shipped right now. And I like the standard cases better:
