I am no longer sure what is wrong with my computer. When I go into the internet all of the search engines don't work, I can go directly to sites but search engines don't work. I have run a couple of Norton scans and they came up with a file that it can't delete. I have run ClamWin (Portable), in safe mode. I deleted what it came up with and then went back into the normal mode and everything worked fine for about five minutes, then all of the search engines stopped working. So I went back into safe mode, ran both scans and Norton did nothing (again) and I put what the ClamWin scan came up with in a 7Zip archive (onto my flash drive) so it cannot be used by the trojan/virus but I can still get to if it found something that wasn't actually bad. Went back into normal mode and the search engines don't work. Went back into safe mode, ran ClamWin and it came up with nothing.
I am currently using an Ubuntu live cd so the search engines work fine on this and so the trojan/virus does not run.

And this is what the ClamWin scans came up with:

Hello whoismezero and Welcome to Geeks to Go!

Sorry for the long wait, busy week.

After checking your log, I found signs of malware on your system.
Please stick with me until we get you cleaned up. :)

Please read this post completely before proceeding with the fix. If you have questions, don't hesitate to ask.

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.
Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediatly.

Then,

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Nice, our scans took care most of the infections...

next,

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  • Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.

      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------

  • Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  • Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
**Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

F:\system\viewer\FlipVideoforPC.exe is nothing to worry about, it is on my digital camera (it is the program used to view the videos from the camera)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\inotbceq.dll doesn't even exist on this computer.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\STVlesm.sys the scan found nothing wrong with this file.

Ok, next

Please re-open HiJackThis and scan. Check the boxes next to all the entries listed below.

O21 - SSODL: bestreak - - (no file)
O22 - SharedTaskScheduler: - bestreak - (no file)
O22 - SharedTaskScheduler: delayingly - {e89fa8e9-5c0b-45f6-a70e-f7b177bcd193} - (no file)

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

Then,

1. Please open Notepad
  • Click Start , then Run
  • Type notepad .exe in the Run Box.

2. Now copy/paste the entire content of the codebox below into the Notepad window:

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\E4BB54CD39.sys
C:\WINDOWS\system32\inotbceq.dll
C:\DOCUME~1\Missy\LOCALS~1\Temp\cusbohcn.sys

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\winDB6E.tmp.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\bdxwpfai.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dfltliim.tmp
C:\i386\E4BB54CD39.sys
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\DRM\Cache\Indiv02.tmp

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\shared tools\msconfig\startupreg\SystemOptimizer]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\system\currentcontrolset\services\sharedaccess\parameters\firewallpolicy\standardprofile\authorizedapplications\list]
"C:\WINDOWS\system32\keolpweh.exe"=-
"C:\\WINDOWS\\TEMP\\winDB6E.tmp.exe"=-
"C:\\WINDOWS\\system32\\bdxwpfai.exe"=-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\cusbohcn]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\Root\LEGACY_cusbohcn

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe as depicted in the animation below. This will start ComboFix again.

Posted Image

5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please post the following reports/logs into your next reply:

Looks good,

First,

Follow these steps to uninstall Combofix and tools used in the removal of malware
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK. Note the space between the X and the U, it needs to be there.
    Posted Image

Next,

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users
  • Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
  • An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
  • If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
  • Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
  • Click the Scanning Control tab.
  • Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
    • Close browsers before scanning.
    • Scan for tracking cookies.

  • Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
  • Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
  • On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
  • On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
  • Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
  • After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
  • Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
  • A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
  • If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".
  • To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
    • Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
    • Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
    • If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://internetsearchservice.com
R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = http://internetsearchservice.com

Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, then click Fix Checked. Close HiJackThis.

Then,

Please download FixWareout from here:
http://downloads.sub.../Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. If your firewall gives an alert, (because this tool will download an additional file from the internet), please don't let your firewall block it, but allow it instead.
Then you will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.

Logs required on next post.
