Well my hair almost gone with the wind. I updated my video driver and a couple others with Driver Detective, also I tried some other software freebies and ever since my computer has gone crazy. Icons missing in folders but text still there, flicking monitor screen, locks ups at times, blue screen a couple times, I've tried restore a couple times with no effect, I did most, if not all, of what this site says to try first before bothering others for help. But I do not know were else to turn, retired with fixed income, so no money for expert to do the fixing. Maybe bad video card - listed all equipment after HIJACKTHIS file.

Hi satchal,

How did you try to restore anything?
Did you roll back the drivers in device manager?
Did you use system restore?
Did you uninstall the programs you installed?
Did the programs have an undo function for what the programs did?

Also what are the other free programs you downloaded and used?

REPLY TO CMPM
First thanks for your response.
Where to begin.
1. I used to restore wizard to try to restore with no effect.
2. No, I did not roll back the drivers in device manager, as at one point I think I was asked to delete all restore dates and I think I did, really not sure on that one.
3. Yes I use system restore.
4. Yes I uninstalled the two programs that I tried - one called "errorsmart" and the other I don't remember the name.
5. I did not see that the programs had an undo function.

Right now I'm using my cpu and at least for now it working but it has done that before during this problem and then it starts, sometimes freezing, sometimes screen goes quickly from black then back to the screen i'm working on, three times it has gone blue screen after been frooze for awhile.
I better sen this reply before any of these happen.

To roll back the driver.

Go to-
Control Panel
System
Hardware Tab
Device manager
Click on Display Adapters
Click on your adapter
Click driver
Click roll back

There isn't anything you did that I see that would eliminate the old driver.

You can do this with any device that you upgraded the driver on and having trouble with.
