I think it would be an interesting topic... first of all, the question would be what is better: to try to build a super CAD computer or to buy one? I know that there are dedicated game computers, or dedicated media computer, no dedicated CAD ones - and I mean with CAD not just AutoCAD, but the most complex like Catia, Unigraphix, etc.
So, shall we start with ideas/advices?

Waiting for your opinions...

I built a CAD machine for a customer recently, here's the specs that I can remember...

AMD Athlon 5000+
2GB RAM
512 MB video card (I don't remember which model it was, I think it was one of the 7000's
250 GB hdd
Windows Vista Business

Haven't heard any complaints as far as CAD performance goes.

Dunno if that would do what you want or not
