I work, play and surf on my computer every day for many many hours, but i never turn it off.
someone once told me that it is good for the computer to keep it on.
does anyone know if that is true or i should turn my computer off every day for a few hours?

I leave my computer on 24/7 and reboot it about once a week or so just to get things fresh again. That being said, keeping your computer on all the time is fine and won't damage anything on the computer. It is actually better to leave the computer running then to start and stop it every day. Less wear-and-tear on the hardware of the computer, most specifically the hard drive since during shutdown and startup the hard drive is used a lot.

I do have my monitors set to turn off after 5 minutes of inactivity to save the life of the backlight on my LCD TV and monitor that I have hooked up to my computer.
