Welcome to GTG.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

If you have a fast internet connection (broadband), run an online virus scan at TrendMicro http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php. Just follow the instructions on the site to run the online scan. If any viruses/trojans are detected, try to delete or clean them in that site. You may use Panda ActiveScan also at http://www.pandasoft...ucts/activescan. Otherwise, make sure your antivirus program has the latest definitions and run a full system scan.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknigh...spy/Cleanup.exe ) and install it. Don't run it yet.

Reboot into Safe Mode by hitting the F8 key until menu shows up. In some systems, this may be the F5 key, so try that if F8 doesn't work. Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click 'Kill process' for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check):

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\GS3F9B.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\inet10079\winlogon.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dstart4.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\CMMON32.EXE

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = http://www.search-paga.com/10079/

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\inet10079\
c:\windows\system\BHOmod.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\dstart4.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\CMMON32.EXE

Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Reboot into Normal Mode run a new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and post it here.

Thank you, greyknight17

I did as you told but on the HijackThis I did not "fix" "016 - DPF:.../emeklilik/scriptX.cab" since it could be something that I use (I hope it did not create any problem, since I didnT tell you in advance)
and here is the new log file,

Nope, that's ok if you know what it's for. Removing it wouldn't have caused any problems since it will reinstall again once you visit the site.

Did you modify your hosts file to have this in it:

O1 - Hosts: 255.255.255.255 ar.atwola.com atdmt.com avp.ch avp.com avp.ru awaps.net ca.com dispatch.mcafee.com download.mcafee.com download.microsoft.com downloads.microsoft.com engine.awaps.net f-secure.com ftp.f-secure.com ftp.sophos.com go.microsoft.co
m liveupdate.symantec.com mast.mcafee.com mcafee.com msdn.microsoft.com my-etrust.com nai.com networkassociates.com office.microsoft.com phx.corporate-ir.net secure.nai.com securityresponse.symantec.com service1.symantec.com sophos.com spd.atdmt.com suppo

rust.com www.nai.com www.networkassociates.com www.sophos.com www.symantec.com www.trendmicro.com www.viruslist.com www.viruslist.ru www3.ca.com

If you didn't, I want you to fix that entry in HijackThis.

Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click 'Kill process' for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check):

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\KXA4D2.EXE

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknigh...spy/Cleanup.exe ) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Restart and post a new HijackThis log.

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot):

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\HHB2C6.EXE

You should clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to C:\Windows\ or C:\WINNT\ and look for the Prefetch folder. Open it up and delete all the files in that folder.

Restart.

Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes. Post a new log after that restart.

OK, something is recreating a random file in your temp folder. I will ask you to give me a few more logs to look at and see if we can find the culprit.

Do not run it yet.

Right click on http://www.silentrun...ent Runners.vbs and choose Save As...Save it to your Desktop. Make sure you have disabled any programs that may block/disable scripts (ex: Ad-Watch, TeaTimer, Norton, etc.). Double click on 'Silent Runners' to run it. This will take a few minutes. It will create a file called 'Startup Programs' followed by your computer name and current date. Open up that file and post all the contents here in your next post.

Download FindQoologic-Narrator.zip at http://forums.net-in...=post&id=134981 and save it to your Desktop. Create a new folder on your desktop (right click and select New->Folder) and call it FindQoologic. Now unzip the file contents of that zip file into that folder. Locate and double-click the Find-Qoologic.bat file to run it. Wait until a text file opens and post that in your next reply.

Download DllCompare http://www.greyknigh.../DllCompare.exe and run it. Click on the 'Locate.com' button. Wait a few seconds and then click on the 'Compare' button. Let it run, then click on 'Make a log of what was found'. Post that log here. Note: If you are having problems using DllCompare (16 bit error), copy autoexec.nt from the C:\WINDOWS\repair folder to C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder. Now try running DllCompare.

Save those 3 logs somewhere. I also need the following logs:

Download and install CleanUp http://cleanup.stevengould.org/
Download KillBox http://www.atribune....ads/KillBox.exe
Download rkfiles http://skads.org/special/rkfiles.zip and unzip the contents to a new folder on your desktop.

Download the remv3.zip at http://forums.skads....hp?showtopic=80 (look for the attachment posted in that second reply). Make a new folder on the root drive C:\ and unzip remv3.zip files into it.

Go to My Computer->Tools->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that Show hidden files and folders is enabled. Also make sure that the System Files and Folders are showing/visible also.

Run CleanUp program now and logoff.

REBOOT TO SAFE MODE. These tools MUST be run in safe mode!
Once in safe mode, double click rkfiles.bat file to run it. It will scan for a while, so please be patient. Wait until the DOS window closes. Open the C:\log.txt it created and rename it log1.txt.

Now open the folder where you saved remv3.zip files and double click the rem.bat file and let it run. It will delete the files and remove the infection and then make a log of the files it finds. The log file will be C:\log.txt and bad1.txt

**Note** Each tool uses log.txt as it’s output file so make sure you save the entries from one tools log before running the other as it will overwrite the file if you don’t.

Reboot back to normal mode and post the contents of both the log.txt and log1.txt in your next post.

Post all the logs here.

I cannot download Silent Runner. I guess there is a problem with the web page. In order to follow the order on your message I didn't download and run other programs. Is there another link for Silent Runner or should I download other programs?

What is the problem you are having with download Silent Runners? Is it because it's showing just text? If that's the case, you MUST right click on the link I gave you. Don't just do a left click. I want you to right click and choose Save Target/Link As.... and then save it somewhere. Then run it from your computer.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dstart4.exe
C:\WINDOWS\dstart4.exe
C:\WINDOWS\winsocks5.exe
C:\WINDOWS\dstart1.exe

You should clear out the files in the Prefetch folder. Go to C:\Windows\ or C:\WINNT\ and look for the Prefetch folder. Open it up and delete all the files in that folder.

I ran Trend Micro Antivirus and it found two programs. It asks to download a program. I donloaded it to desktop but couldn't open it. Shoul I download it in a specific file?

here is the information I get on the Trend Micros web site,

Download and unzip the latest spyware pattern file and scan your system. Then, delete all files detected as DIAL_PORNDIAL.BP.

Details:

This dialer program creates the folder WebSiteViewer in the Program Files folder. It then drops the following files in the created folder:

######.BAN
######.DD
######.DLR
######.EXE
######.ICO
(Note: ###### are 6 random digits.)

It also creates a link named XXX.LNK in the desktop and start-up menu.

It creates the following registry keys to ensure its automatic execution at every Windows startup:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\WebSiteViewer

HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\WebSiteViewer

This enables the program to automatically connect the user to adult Web sites. These Web sites usually have exhorbitant connection fees, hence users may be charged large amounts for calls that this dialer program makes.

Download HSFix. Don't run it yet.

Boot into Safe Mode.

Run HSFix.exe now.

Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose YES when it asks if you want to reboot):

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\HJ1A48.EXE

Restart and post a new HijackThis log. Is WebSiteViewer still being detected?
