Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot):

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\PK4F98.EXE

Restart.

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! http://cleanup.stevengould.org/ (Alternate Link if main link don't work - http://www.greyknigh...spy/Cleanup.exe ) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Restart again and post a new HijackThis log.

what do you mean by "holding off on the scan/log until i can leave the computer on"

I mean, don't shutdown or restart your computer once you post a new HijackThis log. I think this file is changing it's name everytime you do a restart or shutdown. So if you can, leave it on until I give you the next fix. If you can't leave it on, (this is what I meant :tazz:) don't run a new HijackThis scan or post the log yet. Wait until you can leave it on.

I'm trying to see if that filename is changing because everytime we try to delete it a new name pops up. My guess is that you restarted or shutdown during the time between when you posted it and when I replied. So don't restart or shutdown until I give you the fix.

With that said, did you shutdown or restart yet? If you did, I need a new HijackThis log from you. Don't shutdown or restart once you give me the log ;)

because of the time differences between countries, i guess it would be hard to leave my computer on. Now I am posting a new log. but if this won't work, i will post a new log at the weekend. Or what about stand-by mode? I can keep it on stand-by...

(sorry for my askings of explanation. its because of my english :tazz: )

I would have to say, leave it on. Not even StandBy should be on. OK, tell you what, you should be able to spot it yourself. Take a look at the list of running processes. Do you see that randomly named file in c:\windows\temp\? That's the file I want you to kill. Since we are in different time zones, I want you to use KillBox to delete whatever files comes up in the HijackThis log. This way you can do it yourself. Post back a new log when you are done.

In this log, this is the file to delete:

Download KillBox http://www.greyknigh...spy/KillBox.exe. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into KillBox (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot):

C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\BG118B.EXE

Restart and post a new HijackThis log.

No, do not kill all the running processes. Don't kill any, at least not using the Task Manager. I only want you to type that location and the filename into KillBox and then use that to delete the file.

Since the name changes each time, it's best if you do it. So look at your running processes again. See what's the new filename that's created in the temp folder. Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Delete on Reboot'. Type in the path/location of that temp file and check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Hit the red circle marked with an X. Confirm delete and also restart.

After restarted, run a new HijackThis scan and post the log here.

Were you able to use KillBox to delete that temp file? Keep in mind that the name may change each time you restart, so you have to look for it in the HijackThis log.

If not, then go to this site and upload that temp file to the site. As of the log that you gave me here, that file is called QUAECE.EXE located in the C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\ folder. But it might have changed now. So you should run a new HijackThis scan and save the log. Then look for C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\ and see what's the new filename. Then go to the above site I gave you and upload that file there. Tell me what it reports back.

So nothing was detected?

OK, did you try to delete that file using KillBox by yourself? Try running a HijackThis scan now and save the log. Don't post it here, I want you to do this yourself to see if it can be deleted. Look for C:\Windows\TEMP\ and see what file is there. Copy and paste that whole line into KillBox. Make sure Delete on Reboot and End Explorer shell while deleting is checked/enabled. Then hit the circled X button to delete it. Confirm delete but do not let it restart. Restart manually.

i have deleted BT6DE.EXE in the Temp file and manually restart the computer. Now, I have a new dog in my Temp folder which is called GR1613. I have uploaded that file on jotti.org and nothing was found. But it said, "this file has been scanned before. Therefore, this file's scan results will not be stored in the database"

Got a reply back. We usually don't leave users like this since if it is indeed a bad file it may wreak havoc later. But I got the word that the file that is randomly being created in the temp folder is most likely related to TrendMicro (which you have). So I think it's ok also.

Since this issue appears to be resolved ... this Topic has been closed. Glad we could help. :tazz:
