Hi,

I have numerous trojan files on my laptop and cannot remove them no matter what i try. I am running a Win XP system.

So far i have used Mcaffee, Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware, SpywareTerminator, VundoFix, VirtumundoBeGone, and nothing seems to remove them.

Please help, i am all out of ideas!!

Thanks
Bradders

P.S - Not sure if it is related, but my Windows Automatic Updates has disabled and i cannot turn it back on!

Hello bradders33 and Welcome to Geeks to Go!

Sorry for the delay in response. It has been quite busy this week. :)

Anyways, we very much would like to help you with your problem but you must post a Hijackthis log first. This will aid us in determining what type of malware infection(s) you may have on your system.

To do so,

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
