repair failed now can't even format

I kept on getting a disc failure on startup so I decided to do a windows repair on my pc. the problem is that It wont do it for some reason and so then I tried to reformat my C drive and the stuffen thing wont do that either. please help!!! :)

If you are getting a disk failure you hard drive has probably died. Oprn up the computer and place a finger on the hard drive case, then boot the computer. If you feel no vibration at all the drive has died, so the BIOS is as far as you can get.

sorry for the late reply but was away for work. was able to format disc but when i reloaded windows xp home I am constantly gettin g delay writd failure. what the heck is going on . please help.
