Hi guys I don't know all that much about computers so i don't really know what to include in this but I have an explorer.exe error that comes up when I'm exploring in mydocuments and stuff and it come up about once every half an hour. The error basically says explorer.exe has encountered an error and need to close then there's those 2 buttons send and dont send to the windows people. anyway I asked my cousin who's alright with computers and he went through with me some things that might fix it but none of them worked. I tried re-installing windows and re-installing the service pack 2 and i got system mechanic and did a sweep and virus scans and disc checks but nothing has worked. He seemed to think that the best thing would be to just re-format but i don't want to unless i have to. I'd rather just work around it. So guys if you need any information just ask me and I'll find it and include it in another post.

I went into details the last time it happened and it said the modname: ntdll.dll
if that's any help.

by the way I'd rather not reformat or do anything too dangerous because my dad will go spacko if i muck anything up and that's pretty likely considering that i don't know what to do.

just adding. another error just came up and it read exactly this:

Also when the error comes up and i press don't send the desktop and start menu disappears and then the dr watson debugger thingy has an error and closes too. then it comes back.

How did you re-install windows?

Do you have Windows XP -with- SP2?

yes. i just did a windows repair thingy with the disc after i booted

With your Windows CD in your CD drive follow these steps.

Open start and hit "run"
in the runbox type "cmd"
While in the black box type "sfc /scannow"
Everything between quotations is to be typed without the quotation.

ok i did that and nothing happened. After the scan the window closed and then nothing... so i guess there wasn't anything wrong?

Lets see if you have any errors in the event viewer.

• Go to Start -> Run.
• In the Box, type in "eventvwr".
• When the window pops up. Go to the system log.
• Look for red circles with "X"s in them around the time of error.
• Once you've opened the error press the button to the right with the 2 papers on it.
• Please attach the information you just copied onto your next reply.

I'm sorry, Got a bit caught up in some Real Life work.

If you still have your CD to install drivers try un-installing the firewire (1394).
Then put in your CD and install firewire.

That should get rid of the first error in the eventlog.
