Hi!
This is my first post and my first 'log-experience', so I hope I do it correctly, if not just tell me what's missing (or if I've posted way too many logs as I think I have).

I've started downloading lots of stuff via torrents a couple of months ago, and since that my comp has been getting slower and slower, both when starting up and when running/opening programs.

I've read the thread You Must Read This Before Posting A Hijackthis Log and followed the steps in it:

The ATF Cleaner removed about 500 MB.
I have no idea what the system restore thing did.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware found 2 'things', the log is here:

Windows Update: I'm pretty sure I already had the SP2 before... Not sure what/if I should do about this?

Reboot-test:
I restarted twice and the comp was really slow at starting up (slow as usual, neither better nor worse).

So! Step 5 of the guide is to post the log(s?) here - the last ones are the Hijackthis.log:

Hi,

Nothing suspicious here though...

You may want to read this:
Help! My computer is slow!
Then you'll also figure out that Norton Internet Security is a huge resource hog and causes a slow system - even though it used to run fine in the beginning.

Okay... So basically I want to delete it, right?

Any suggestions as to what I should get instead? My computer has (so I just found)

Dell Latitude 610
Intel® Premium® M
processor 1.73GHz
795 MHz, 504 MB RAM

Thanks a lot for helping out so far! :)

Yes, 504 MB RAM is a bit low for Norton Internet Security. I have 1024MB and when I installed Norton Internet Security here as a test, it was also crawling my system, so I can imagine that it is worse in your case. :)

Yes, look in my signature below under Antivirus scanners for the ones I recommend. For example Avira is a great free Antivirus.
Make sure you uninstall Norton Internet Security first and reboot afterwards before you install a new Antivirus, because more than 1 Antivirus installed causes an instable system since they are not compatible.

Thanks - I deleted Norton and installed Avira, and I'm pretty sure my comp has gotten a bit faster. I'm looking through some different guides around the web trying to improve the speed of my machine, and they all tend to agree with you :)
