GOOGLE Searches of one's own hardrive

I think(?) I heard that that Google offers for free a product that enables a user to perform a Google-like search of his own C-drive, much as one does a normal Google search of the entire web.

Is that correct or not? What is that program called? How do I download it? How do critics and users rate it?
